The 2.2 is stiffer and heavier, as is to be expected. The 1.7 density is generally purchased as laminated sheets: several thinner sheets are laminated together by the manufacturer to make a thicker board. PolyPlank® LAM consists of multiple layers of extruded foam laminated to each other. Thickness ranges from ½ to 6 in. PolyPlank® MDL multiple-density laminate features 1/8 in., 6 pcf, extruded, polyethylene skin laminated to polyethylene plank.
